The Carbon Dinos played host to Wasatch Academy Tuesday afternoon in a two-team swimming dual at the Desert Wave Pool in Price.

Scoring victories in four of the 11 events, the Carbon boys squad earned a slim 88-76 win over Wasatch Academy. Of the four individual event wins, two featured a first-second-third place sweep.

The Carbon Lady Dinos also defeated Wasatch Academy, but with a bit more conviction. Winning seven of the 11 events, Carbon outscored their opponent 138-43.

Parker Humes recorded the first win of the afternoon for the boys, topping teammate Anthony Flores by six seconds in the 200 yard freestyle. Humes would later add another first place finish by topping the field in the 100 yard breaststroke.

Josh Jeffery completed the 100-yard freestyle with a finishing time of 1:12.55, just topping teammate Luis Estudillo’s time of 1:12.77. The other event win came from Hunter Heath in the 500 yard freestyle, coming in above teammates Kinnon Lyman and Jack Christensen.

The Carbon Lady Dinos started the meet off with a bang as the 200 yard medley relay team consisting of Thalyn Lyman, Tyrca Jaramillo, Kacee Barrett and Jacee Richards topped the field with a a time of 2:18.92.

Jaramillo added another win to her resume’ by easily defeating the field in the 500 yard freestyle with a time of 7:13.94. Teammates Richards and Lyman finished behind in second and third.

Megan Swasey delivered a standout performance with wins in the 200 yard freestyle and 100 yard breaststroke. In both events Swasey topped teammates who finished behind in second and third.

Sofia Crompton, Kacee Barrett, Emily Jespersen, Megan Swasey recorded a victory in the 200 yard freestyle. The group of four finished the race with a time of 1:55.29.

Natalie VanDyke edged teammate Alheli Pendleton by less than a second in the 100 yard freestyle with a time of 1:11.49. VanDyke also joined Nicole Swasey, Jenna Birch and Ashlin Baker in a first place finish in the 400 yard freestyle.

Carbon will continue the swim season on Friday with a trip to Castle Dale to compete at the Emery County Aquatic Center. The week will come to an end on Saturday with a road meet in Moab.
