Arthur Wayne Brown, alias “Farmer Brown”, age 83, returned home to his Heavenly Father on December 6, 2018.

Wayne was born on November 23, 1935 in Monarch of Duchesne County, Utah to Arthur Wade and Hazel Adams Brown. He was the eldest of five children.

Wayne was a hard worker, he learned this early in life growing up in Neola in a small two room cabin on his parent’s farm. Wayne’s first job on the farm was to gather eggs for his mother when he was four. At six he learned to chop and gather wood so he could help his mother build a fire in her cooking stove. He helped in the family garden picking raspberries for his mother. Wayne’s dad had milk cows and when Wayne was old enough to help; milking cows was added to his chore list. Wayne helped his dad each morning milking as fast as he could so not to miss his school bus. When spring and summer came there was irrigating and hay hauling. He hauled hay on his dad’s farm then worked on his Grandfather Brown’s place. He also helped on the farms of his Uncle’s; Ray and Vic Brown. Summers were full of hay hauling, irrigating, gardening and milking, his family and extended family worked together every day except on Sunday. His Grandpa C.A Brown never worked any of the boys on Sunday.

Wayne loved riding horses, he and his cousin Fred had many adventures on the Ashley Forest riding horses, fishing and camping out as young boys. A few accidents occurred; Wayne’s horse ran away with him and went through a barbed wire fence. They rolled twice leaving him unconscious and in his bed for a couple of days. However this incident did not deter his love for riding horses.

Wayne graduated from Union High School May 21, 1954. He was on the track team, going to State Track Meets and a BYU Invitational Track Meet. As a senior he led the Cougar’s to the inter-class championship for Union High track team, taking two first place marks in the high jump and broad jump. His ending result being 20 feet 41/2 inches in the broad jump. Because of Wayne’s leadership, character, loyalty and service to Union he was chosen to be one of the eight boys to go to Boys State from his high school.

Wayne married Karen Nelson November 1954 and later divorced. On August 28, 1982 he married Robyn Kaye Peacock in Price, Utah. The marriage was later solemnized February 14, 1990 in the Manti Temple.

Wayne’s career started in April 1957 where he went to work for Hill Air Force Base. He learned to repair two-way radios in Military Aircraft; he ended up working there for ten years. In 1968 Wayne had an opportunity to transfer to Price, where he was stationed in the Manti LaSal Forest Service Office. At that time he worked on the Manti LaSal, Uintah, Ashley and Wasatch Forests. This led him to travel many miles to repair radios and repeaters. He kept the entire communications operating for the Forest Service. Wayne also spent many summers as Regional Overhead Communications Officer on firefighting teams. He retired from the Manti LaSal in January 1995.

Wayne was a very hard worker; he worked a full time job, raised a family and took care of his own farm. He irrigated his land, raised cows and always grew a huge garden that was shared among many in the community. Wayne was an avid outdoorsman; he loved hunting, fishing, camping and making his annual trip into the wilderness of the High Uintah Mountains. He often made these trips on horseback after he retired with his son Darrin and Forest Service friends.

Wayne was service minded; he was always willing to help those around him. Wayne was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in leadership callings for over twenty years; ten of those years were spent once a week as an Ordinance Worker at the Manti Temple. Wayne was a good example to everyone; he was so honest, generous, humble and kind. He lived the gospel in his daily dealings with his fellowman always. Wayne’s greatest love and accomplishment was his family, he was an amazing husband, father, brother, grandfather and great grandfather. Wayne was a friend to all and everyone loved and respected him. He will be missed always and loved forever.

Wayne is survived by his eternal companion and best friend Robyn; children, Lynette (Greg) Marsing of Carbonville, UT; Susan Palacios of Wellington, UT; LuAnna (Terry) Erickson of Price, UT; Lesly (Mark) Robertson of Henderson, NV; Darrin (Anna) Brown of Vernal, UT; Denise (Ron) Young of Price, UT; stepson, Jason of Arkansas and stepdaughter, Kimber McGehee of Vernal, UT.
