Bob R. Nelson, age 94, passed away peacefully on December 7, 2018 surrounded by his loving family in Price, Utah.

Bob was born on April 29, 1924 to Horace and Irene Nelson in Hiawatha, Utah. He attended school in Ferron and Moab. Bob excelled in track and after attending a BYU track meet he became a lifelong BYU fan.

Married Laverne Rasmussen on June 1, 1947 and to this marriage they were blessed with four daughters, Janet (Charlie) Philips, Raelynn (Bruce) Penoske, Barbara (Dirk) Richardson, and Michelle Nelson. Later married Bonnie Jean Thomas on October 20, 1985; she preceded him in death.

Bob was proud of his military service in the U.S. Navy and served on a merchant ship and toured throughout the world. While wearing his WWII hat he got to share his service stories and recount ports-of-call till his final day. Bob took the honor flight to Washington D.C. to tour our country’s memorials and his passing on the 77th anniversary of Pearl Harbor invasion comes as a great comfort to his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter; and Bonnie Jean. Bob was the last surviving of twelve children. Survived by Laverne; four daughters; 13 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.
