This month is a busy time for the Carbon County Seniors with all the hustle and bustle of the holidays for them personally but also with the fun activities at the center. Carbon County Senior Center Director Debby Kobe has some mixed emotions this time around because she will be saying goodbye on December 31 as she starts retirement life after 14 years with the center.

“I have absolutely loved my time here at the Senior Center as the director. It’s just been a pleasure to work with the seniors of Carbon County,” said Kobe. “It’s going to be different and I have mixed feelings. You know I’m kind of sad in some ways but very excited in other ways.” What Kobe will miss the most about her jobs is the seniors and the friendships she has made along the way. She has a long list of plans that she is looking forward to with her husband.

The entire month of December is an eventful time for the senior citizens as they have many talented guests coming to the center to entertain for the holidays. “You know we have some special entertainment that we’re doing for the month of December. We’ve got the Carbon High Vocal Jazz coming to sing, we got the Wellington Elementary Singers they’re coming,” explained Kobe. Also scheduled to make an appearance is Kristy Woodhouse, Carbon High Band and Senior Center Line Dancers.

This year’s annual Christmas Luncheon will be held on December 19 at 11:30 am at the center.  Any Seniors who which to keep up on all of the activities taking place at the center may stop by their location of 450 South Fairgrounds to pick up a free monthly newsletter with all of the necessary information for the month.

If there are any questions about the December activities please call the center at 636-3202.
