Carbon High School senior football players Collin Lewis and MaKade Bradley received 3A All-State Second Team selections for their individual play during the 2018 season, as selected by coaches in the classification.

Lewis, a standout fullback and linebacker for the Dinos, was a focal point of the team’s offensive scheme throughout the season. Delivering several memorable performances throughout the year, Lewis scored two touchdowns (one offense and one defense) against rival Emery in a 16-9 win on Sept. 21.

A key member in the trenches on both sides of the ball, Bradley installed consistency at center for the Dinos throughout the season. Pegged as a senior captain on this year’s team, Bradley played in all but on contest in 2018.

Athlete Jaylon Dennis received an honorable mention for his do-it-all type performance this past season. Playing in a number of positions Dennis started at quarterback for the Dinos multiple times this season, including the home playoff contest against Richfield. A dynamic player in the open field, the junior also returned kicks and punts.

Senior Gunnar Jeffs also received an honorable mention for his play in the trenches this past season. Jeffs helped hold together an offensive line that assisted in one of the more highly potent attacks the school has seen in years.

The 2018 campaign was a highly successful one for the Dinos. While earning its first region win since 2000, Carbon also defeated rival Emery, ending a 15-game losing skid that dated back to 2001. The season came to and end with a first round home playoff loss to the Richfield Wildcats.
