Buddy Ross Pilling, age 84, rode off into the sunset on “Mr. Dido” with “Max” trailing behind on December 16, 2018.

He was born November 2, 1934 in Price, Utah to Clarence and Louella Davis Pilling.  Married Joan Heer on August 1, 1953 in Dragerton, Utah.

Bud loved his family and left them a wonderful legacy. He was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. Bud was a gentleman whose integrity, honesty and decency left this world a better place. He had a deep interest in Native American history and cowboy history. Anyone who knew Bud, knew that he was a proud man and proud of the Pilling name. He was one of the last cowboys who remained this long. One of the highlights of his life was the years he spend in Range Creek with his father and he loved the cowboy life. Bud and Joan enjoyed raising and showing horses and participated in the riding clubs. Of all the horses he raised he was most proud of “Mr. Dido”. Bud was a member of the Joppa Masonic Lodge and the Carbon Masonic Lodge. He was past Master of the Carbon Lodge where he received the highest award given to Masons, The Hyrum Award. He also belonged to the Shriners and the York Rite. He helped get his great granddaughter into the Jobes Daughters. Bud was proud to get his grandsons Kasey, Cody, and Daniel Miller, Brett and Bryon O’Hearon and Colton Pilling into the masonic lodge. Bud also belonged to the Operating Engineers Local union #3.
