The Emery Spartans used a solid second half performance to outlast the Manti Templars in a 74-65 win Wednesday night at the Spartan Center in Castle Dale.

Locked in a 31-31 tie at the midway point, the Spartans outscored the Templars 21-13 in the third quarter. The momentum continued into the fourth as Emery logged their first Region 15 win of the season, improving to 1-2 in division play.

Senior Brodie Tuttle poured in a game-high 23 points to lead the Spartans in the team’s second consecutive win. Kyson Stilson contributed a solid 22 points and Brax Jensen finished with 13.

Playing in just his third game this season, senior Cade Brazier found his mark from deep connecting on three shots to score nine points. Logging his first serious minutes of the season, Brazier provided depth and a spark off of the bench.

“We just stuck to the game plan, which was grab the ball and go,” said Brazier. “I’m still trying to get my timing down. It is a process, but I will get there.”

Mason Thompson finished with a team best 17 points as the Templars dipped to 1-3 in region play. Dallin Cox and Grady Thompson each logged 12 and Travis Thomson ended with nine.

Emery will have an opportunity to climb to the .500 barrier in division play Friday night with a road contest against the North Sanpete Hawks. After a loss on Wednesday, North Sanpete is currently 0-3 in league play.

Live coverage of Friday’s contest will air live on KOAL 107.3 FM and 750 AM beginning at 6:30 with the Landon’s Diesel Service Pre-Game Show. Tip-off will follow shortly after at 7:00.
