The Carbon Dinos used a balanced, four quarter effort to defeat the American Leadership Academy Eagles 73-58 Wednesday night in Region 14 play.

Entering Wednesday’s division tilt with identical records, the Dinos earned a highly important win to move up in the standings. Carbon now sits in fifth place with a 2-4 record league record, just one game behind Delta for fourth.

Derek Hillam continued to stuff the stat sheet finishing with 30 points and 16 rebounds. Ty Anderson helped push an efficient offensive performance with nine points, four assists and four steals.

“My first game back after hurting my wrist and it was just great to put all five seniors back on the court together,” said Anderson during the post game show on KRPX 95.3 The Peak. “We all came together, had fun and just played ball tonight.”

After struggling out of the gate the Dinos have now won four of the last six games. One of the two losses came in double-overtime last week against the Union Cougars.

Norman Rentschler led the Eagles with 14 points and three rebounds. Caden Reichner contributed eight points, while three others finished with seven. The loss dips ALA to 1-5 in division play, just one game better than Maeser Prep.

Wednesday’s win complete the first of two go-around in division play. The Dinos will now have an opportunity to draw even with Delta when the two teams meet Friday night on the road.

Live coverage of Friday’s contest is scheduled to begin at 6:30 pm with the Landon Diesel Service Pre-Game Show, followed by tip-off at 7:00.
