The Emery Spartans logged their fourth consecutive win with an 81-70 victory over the Grand Red Devils Wednesday night at the Spartan Center.

Riding the momentum of a 102-85 win over North Sanpete on Friday, the Spartans outscored Grand in three of the four quarters. Holding a 39-30 lead at the break, Emery managed to keep a steady lead throughout the second half.

Kyson Stilson once again led the Spartans in the win, posting a game-high 32 points. After knocking down seven three-point shots on his way to 40 point Friday night, Stilson connected on four shots from beyond arc Wednesday.

“They’re a different beast and really good at what they do,” said Stilson following the win. “I respect Grand a lot and can’t wait to play them again in Moab.”

Brax Jensen scored 15 points and handed out 10 assists to record his second straight double-double. Mason Faimalo chipped in with 10 points in a reserve effort, while Kyler Wilstead ended with nine.

Grand was led by senior center Cameron Hoppensteadt who finished with 30 points and 16 rebounds in the loss. Teddy Park was the only other Red Devil to finish in double-digits, ending with 10.

After dropping the first two region games of the season, the Spartans have now moved to 3-2 in the division. Adding a win over Carbon into the mix and the Spartans won their last four games by a total of 87 points.

“We’ve been shooting the ball a lot better these last few games, but you have to credit our defense,” said Stilson. “Even though we are putting up a lot of points, a lot of it is shots with hands in their face and no second chance points.”

Emery will complete the first go-around of Region 15 play on Friday with a road trip to Blanding to meet the San Juan Broncos. Live coverage will begin at 6:30 pm on KOAL 107.3 FM and 750 AM. Tip-off will follow shortly after at 7:00.
