The Emery Lady Spartans moved to 9-0 in Region 15 play with a 72-29 blowout victory over the Manti Templars Tuesday evening at the Spartan Center in Castle Dale.

Wasting no time out of the gate the Lady Spartans outscored Manti 26-0 in the first quarter. Extending the advantage over the next two periods, the majority of the contest was a formality as Emery recorded its 33rd consecutive victory dating back to last season.

Kacelyn Toomer poured in a game-high 16 points despite playing limited minutes. Megan Jensen also reached double-figures by scoring 13. Kinlee Toomer and Morgan Hurdsman both added nine. A total of 13 players scored at least one point for Emery in the win.

Breana Barson led Manti with nine points as the Templars dipped to 1-9 in region play. Allie Bridges contributed seven and Kassidy Alder scored four. The loss marked the eighth straight for Manti since defeating Grand in league action.

With only three games remaining in the regular season the Lady Spartans will have an opportunity to clinch the region championship on Thursday with a trip to Mount Pleasant against North Sanpete.

Thursday will mark the second meeting of the season between the two schools. Emery won the first 57-26 at home on Jan. 10.
