Kyson Stilson scored 18 of his 22 points in the second half to lead the Emery Spartans past the San Juan Broncos 82-74 in the final Region 15 contest of the season Friday night at the Spartan Center in Castle Dale.

Trailing 18-12 at the end of the first quarter, the Spartans took the lead midway through the second and never looked back. Ending division play 6-6, Friday’s win gives Emery a season split with the Broncos.

Kyler Wilstead continued to shine offensively for the Spartans by adding 18 points. Cade Brazier scored nine of his 15 points in the first half and Brax Jensen contributed 12. All seven Emery players that entered the game scored at least two points.

San Juan junior Shaw Nielson scored 21 points, 15 of which came from beyond the arc, to pace the Broncos in the setback. Jaxon Torgerson and Randall Flavel both finished with 17. As a team San Juan connected on 13 shots from the three-point line.

Friday’s win assures the Spartans will finish no lower than fifth in Region 15. San Juan will wrap up the regular season on Saturday against Grand. The winner of that contest will enter a coin flip tie-breaker with Emery for the No. 4 seed.

While the region portion of the schedule is now complete, Emery will participate in one-more regular season game on Tuesday against Green River.
