The Carbon Lady Dinos romped past a field of 25 schools to claim first-place at the Farm Bureau Track and Field Invitational Saturday at Carbon High School.

Finishing with 94 points, the Lady Dinos edged out second place Grand’s total of 87. Union ended in a distant third with 70 points, followed by Uintah and Hillcrest.

The Carbon boy’s team also logged a top five finish ending with 55 points, which placed them fourth overall. Grand claimed the top spot with 136 points, followed by Emery in second with 92.5 points. Hillcrest rounded out the top three, while Tooele finished fifth.

Senior Emma Haddock delivered yet another fantastic performance, finishing first-place in the 3200 meters with a time of 12:43.8. Haddock later ended second in the 1600 meters with a time of 5:39.35.

Senior Megan Swasey came out on top in a heated battle in the 100 meters, defeating San Juan’s Shae Nielson by the slimmest of margins. Swasey later joined with Paiten Thomas, Haylee Prescott and Makenna Blanc for a first-place finish in the 4X400.

Prescott and Blanc were also apart of the first-place 4X100 squad. Teaming up with Harley Migliori and Lyndee Mower, the group finished with a time of 53.12.

The Carbon boy’s team continued to use depth scoring to place inside the top five. The top performers again included junior Carson Frame who ended second in the long jump, as well as Jared Spendlove’s second-place effort in the 800 meters.

The track and field team will now prepare to take a lengthy road trip to Blanding to compete at San Juan High School on Wednesday.
