Donna Grace McCourt, age 86, passed away peacefully on March 24, 2019 at Heirloom Inn in Price, Utah.
Grace was born on July 28, 1932, to Wanda Simmons, and was adopted by her dad Claude Jones at the age of 6. She lived in Carbon County for most of her life but also spent time living in Salt Lake and Vernal.
She met her husband William LaMar McCourt and they were married on February 5, 1949 in Wellington, Utah; he preceded her in death on February 24, 1970. Together they had 5 children Butch, Ray, Linn, Rhea, and David. Grace kept close tabs on her kids and grandkids and enjoyed visits with family and friends.
She had many hobbies in her younger years, playing softball, barrel racing, and she really loved bowling. She played in bowling leagues and even traveled back East for bowling tournaments. She also loved traveling, watching her grandkids in sports and programs, and she liked attending community concerts with her sister and friends. Later in life she took up golfing and enjoyed walking the course with the ladies, she had a hard time when she had to give that up due to her declining health.
Grace took pride in her work and made many good friends at the jobs she had over the years. Most would remember her as the friendly face from China City but she also worked at the Helper Club, BeJo’s and Koret of California. She never really stopped working as she appointed herself manager of her son Linn’s properties and made sure that everyone was kept in line.
Survived by son Linn McCourt; sisters Claudette Schade, Judy Bergan; brothers Buddy (Marie) Jones and Darwin (Karla) Jones; grandchildren Mike (Christina) McCourt, Chellie (Amy) McCourt, Mindy (Brett) Branson, Whitney (Brandon) Hansen, Brady McCourt, Shannon Tallerico, Samantha McCourt, Nicole (John) Seggelke, Katie Felice and daughter-in- law Jami (Gary) Felice. Many great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
Preceded in death by parents Wanda and Claude Jones; husband William Lamar McCourt; children, William Lamar (Butch) McCourt, Charles Ray McCourt, David Scott McCourt, and Rhea Rose McCourt, brothers-in-law Dick Schade and Eldon Bergan.
Funeral service, Thursday, March 28, 2019, 1:00 p.m., Mitchell Funeral Home where the family will receive friends one hour prior to service. Interment, Wellington City Cemetery.
