The Emery Spartans baseball squad dropped a Region 15 home game on Tuesday against Richfield. In a game where they fell behind early the rally wasn’t enough as they strand three runners on base in the bottom of the seventh.

Richfield jumped out with four runs in the first inning and would add three more in the fifth, Emery never led in the contest scoring in the third and seventh.

Even though the Spartans scored five runs, the bats were cold all day as they only managed two hits by Bron Gordon and Brax Jensen. One statistic that sticks out is 13 runners left on base, they manged to get men on, but couldn’t get them across the plate.

Defensively Cade Brazier went four innings giving up seven hits and seven runs (two earned) while striking out three. Logan Healy was tagged with the loss going two innings giving up two hits while striking out four.

Richfield was lead by Nate Winters and Jake Shepard with two RBI’s each. Defensively they went through three pitchers Shepard, Morgan Albrecht and Emmit Haffen, who walked away with the victory.

Emery takes to the field today taking on a team from Bear River Idaho at Smith’s Ballpark in Salt Lake. They return to region play on Friday as they visit Richfield. Game time on Friday is set for 1 pm.
