Two second half goals propelled the Emery Spartans past the Richfield Wildcats 4-3 in a Region 15 thriller Tuesday afternoon in Castle Dale.

Tied 2-2 at the end of the first half, the Spartans outpointed the Wildcats 2-1 in the final half play. The win moves Emery within one game of the Grand Red Devils for the top spot in the Region 15 standings.

Spencer Hadfield found the back of the net twice to lead Emery in the win, running his season goal total to four. Brock Winter notched one goal, making it the third consecutive game he has scored. Gage Mangum also logged one goal in the win.

With only five games remaining in the regular season, Emery remains firmly in the chase for a region championship. Sitting 3-1-1 in division play, the Spartans trail only the Grand Red Devils, who hold a record of 4-0-1. Manti is currently third at 2-1-1.

Emery will return to the soccer field Thursday as they travel to Monroe for a second meeting with the South Sevier Rams. The Spartans won the first meeting of the season last Thursday in a runaway 7-1 final in Castle Dale.
