PRICE – Utah State Eastern Men’s Basketball Head Coach Aldjama Becheli announces the signing of Donaval Avila, Jr. to his 2019 recruiting class.

The 6’3 guard comes to Price from Petal, Mississippi where he was a three-year stsarter for Petal High School.

“I decided to come to USU Eastern because I believe the coaching staff will push me to become the best player I can be and get to the next level, at a Division I school,” said Avila.

At Petal Avila averaged 12 points, four assists and five rebounds per game. He hopes he can bring that same type of production to USU Eastern next season.

“What I’m bringing to the table is my ability to get guys open as in dribble penetrating and dishing it out to the shooters or to the bigs. I bring defense, I take pride in that, my slashing ability,” said Avila.

Coach Becheli and his staff are excited for the addition of Avila for not only his shooting but his leadership on the floor.

“I’m excited to have him join the program because he can bring toughness and leadership to our program. He is a good player that will help us at the point guard position. He can shoot and also can run a team,” said Becheli.

Avila is the son of Donaval and Silvia Avila. He plans on studying Kinesiology as his major at USU Eastern.
