The Emery Spartans scored nine runs in the final three innings to earn an 11-8 win over the South Sevier Rams in a Region 15 contest Wednesday afternoon in Monroe.

Trailing throughout the first five innings of the game, the Spartans took control with a three-run fifth frame. Riding the momentum built in the fifth, Emery added two in the sixth, before dropping four runs in the top of the seventh.

Logan Healy earned the win on the mound after striking out five in four innings, while allowing five earned runs. Kason Stilson worked three innings in a relief role, giving up just five hits and one earned run.

As a team Emery registered 15 hits, compared to 11 for South Sevier. Both teams committed four errors in the field.

Senior Koda Alton finished 3-4 at the plate, knocking one double and one RBI. The afternoon success runs his season average to an outstanding .389.

Stilson helped his own cause on the mound by finishing 3-3 with a walk in the batter’s box. Bron Gordon, Kyson Stilson and Eli Beagley all ended with two hits.

Wednesday’s win moves Emery to 6-2 in Region 15 play and 8-6 overall. Currently third in the division, the Spartans are two games behind first place Richfield and one game behind second place Manti.

Emery will next host the San Juan Broncos on Friday afternoon at 3:30. The two teams met earlier this week as Emery earned an 11-2 win.
