The Dino softball team traveled to Delta on Thursday and came home with a Region 14 victory 31-10.

Carbon’s offense hit the ground running scoring 16 runs in the first three innings, and missed ending the game in the third by just six runs. They then went on to score 15 runs in the fourth and fifth innings at which point the game was called.

The last few weeks have been an up and down stretch for the Dinos as this marks their third win in the last five contests. Coming off a  region loss on Tuesday to Union and a non-conference loss to a 4A Uintah team, the lady Dinos appear to have put those games in the rear view mirror and  may be poised to make a late season run. Sitting at 10-4 overall and 3-1 in region play they have region games coming up next week against Juab, the number one team in Region 14 on Thursday, and two against American Leadership Academy in back to back days Friday and Saturday.

Junior Clarissa Noyes leads the Dinos with a .545 batting average with 12 hits, nine RBI’s and 14 runs with two home runs. Defensively sophomore Brooke Moosman has a 3.28 ERA in six appearances while striking out 15.

The Dinos will participate in the Payson Icebreaker Tournament starting tomorrow at 9 am., when they will face the Emery Spartans.

The next home game for Carbon will not be until April 24 when they will face North Sanpete. Stay tuned to Castle Country Radio for all the latest updates on local sports.
