USU Eastern is hosting their 5th Annual Diversity Conference on Wednesday, April 17 from 9:00 am to 3:30 pm inside the Jennifer Leavitt Student Center. Conference officials are excited to host this year’s keynote speaker, Katie Clifford.

“So, Katie is going to talk about – she’s a Marketing Manager and she’s going to talk about being in a male-dominated field. That’s going to be her focus is really her success in that field. She actually comes to Price highly regarded,” said Director of Student Life Leadership & Diversity, Gypsie Everett. “The biggest thing about Katie that she has done is really that she has worked for the Olympics. So, she’s worked for companies like Puma, currently, she works for O.C. Tanner in Salt Lake City. She helps create cultures of recognition and appreciation for these different companies.”

Belonging in a World of Differences is the theme for this year’s conference as Everett explains the concept, “We’re really focused on that you know, yes, we’re all different and it’s important to look at those differences and celebrate those differences but it’s also important that we realize that we’re all human, we all have that in common and we need to recognize that and appreciate each other and love each other.” The conference is open to community members, USU Eastern faculty, staff and students.

There will be several different guest speakers that will talk on various topics. “We have some great presenters coming. We have Kylee Howell from Friar Tucks Barbershop in Salt Lake City, she was actually our keynote speaker last year and she is wonderful and so she’s going to talk about Creating an Inclusive Space. We have our Student Body President, Alexandria Anderson who’s going to put on a presentation about Colorism; we have another student that will talk about Daca and the Misconceptions of Daca, and some professors will be there also, there’s just a huge lineup,” explained Everett. A free breakfast and lunch will be served to attendees.
