Outside temperatures are warming up which means its road construction time and currently there are two big road projects underway, the expansion of State Road 10 which is south of Price and the 100 North Bridge in Price.

“SR10, just south of Price – so we started up there, people have probably already noticed that there is utility work going on for the past several weeks or even months in preparation for the project. But we’re down to the point now where you’ll start to see a little bit of encroachment on those travel lanes doing some excavation work,” said Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) Spokesperson, Kevin Kitchen. “They’ve had to relocate some fire hydrants last week and so forth.  They’ll be installing special geogrid and working a lot on the excavation this week – so they’re will be some big machinery in there and we’ll just ask people to kind of be careful as they’re navigating through that particular section.”  The SR10 project will add an additional center turn lane, curb, gutter and sidewalks, as well as provide wider shoulders, this should allow for less congested and safer travel through this particular area.

The 100 North Bridge is in its fourth week of construction and it seems to be just plugging along with its repairs. “One of the things that they’ll be working on here in the next day or two – we’re really hoping the weather will really cooperate with us and won’t create a problem. We did get approval to work specifically over the railroad and to do any work over the railroad we have to have specific permitting, specific flagging that takes place so they are going to put the false stick over the railroad there which will cause closure there again,” said Kitchen. Drivers may only see delay in travel time but it is probable that there could be road closures too. Drivers and pedestrians need to plan accordingly.
