Donna Verona Norton Jensen courageously passed away on April 14, 2019 at Good Life Senior Living in Price, UT. Donna was born on Easter Sunday, April 20, 1930 in Kiz (Clarks Valley), UT to Lafayette Miles and Sarah (Vida) Mathews Norton.

There she lived in a small, one-room cabin, along with her parents and seven older siblings until she was eight years of age. Her family then moved to Wellington, UT, where she attended school and later worked at her sister’s cafe. The cafe was joined by a small gas station, where a tall, very handsome man by the name of Fred (Dale) Jensen worked after his return from the World War II. When Donna set her eyes on this man, she told her sister, “I’m going to marry that man someday.” And that they did, on September 21, 1947. Their marriage was later solemnized at Manti Temple on March 26, 1965. They had a beautiful marriage for 67 years, at the time of Dale’s passing in 2015.

Together, they made their home in Wellington, where they raised their three children, Fred, Rand and Dalana. She was blessed and so proud when she became a grandmother, great-grandmother and great, great-grandmother to the “most beautiful grandkids that ever walked upon the face of the earth.”

As her family grew, she held several jobs working as treasurer at Wellington City, receptionist for Dr. Frank Colombo and of course, bookkeeper for her husband’s business, Dale’s Motor Clinic. Most importantly, her most gratifying job was raising her family. She was the best, most creative, thoughtful mother that could ever be.

Donna was an incredible seamstress! She continuously had a project or several mass-productions she would sew and give to family, friends and total strangers. She continued sewing and giving to others until her last days.

Donna was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she held many positions such as, primary president, young women’s counselor, relief society ward counselor, second counselor in Wellington Stake and many more. And she absolutely loved her genealogy work.

After retirement, Donna spent the winters in Beaver Dam and Quartzsite, AZ with her husband Dale, Billy, Helen, Bruce and many friends. These were very enjoyable years for both her and Dale. After Dale’s passing and the decline of Donna’s health, she resided at Good Life Senior Living (formerly Beehive), where she enjoyed the visits from her many family and friends. She always wanted everyone to know how much she appreciated and loved them.

Donna loved, in no specific order, Dale, her children, her grand, great-grand and great-great grandchildren, spaghetti, the Utah Jazz, arrowhead hunting with family, especially Arlette, Tabu perfume, quilting, ONO club, dancing at 50 & 6 club and open air pavilion, listening to Kim read to her, gumdrops, crocheting, slot machines, root beer floats, bunko, bowling, writing poetry, family reunions, giving gifts for 12 days of Christmas, mutual camps, Daughters of Utah Pioneers, her special friendship with Vera, fishing, singing by the campfire, teenage gang and Renae’s visits, being jr. high school president, her parents, favorite colors peach (coral and aqua), Navajo tacos, boxes, yard sales with Jeanie, coconut marshmallows, boxes, lilacs, her sister and brothers (unless they teased her), Richard fixing things for her, pine nut hunting, compiling books, puzzles, babies, sewing, parties, bragging about being the oldest of five generations, hankies, marmalade jam, genealogy with Carolyn, camping, giving to others and she especially loved to gab, but she never let the truth stand in the way of a good story!

Despite all of Donna’s trials and tribulations throughout her life, she continued to endure with a positive attitude, faith and love until the end. She lived her life by the words, “Because I have been given much, I too must give.”

Donna will be missed by so many, especially her daughter, Dalana, son-in-law Richard, grand and great-grandchildren and their spouses, daughters-in-law, many nieces and nephews and many friends.

Preceded in death by parents Lafe and Vida; the love of her life and dear husband Dale; her dearly loved sons Fred, Rand and three infant sons; sister Vivian Packer; brothers Darrell, Melvin, Glen, Carl, Ross, Bruce and her infant brother and sister Athal and Melva Norton; mother-in-law Florence McMullin Jensen and father-in-law Wilford Ray Jensen; as well as many sister and brothers-in-law.
