The Emery Spartan softball team struggled early and often to get their bats going on Friday in Manti. The Templars were scoreless in the first two innings but went on to score in every one after that registering a 10-0 win against the Spartans in a Region 15 tilt.

Emery struggled offensively throughout with only two hits the entire game, it was obvious that Manti turned up the defensive heat as senior Kiana Pogroszewski pitched a gem going a complete game, six innings allowing just two hits while walking two and striking out nine.

Emery senior Ambree Bennett and sophomore Taleigh Price accounted for the only hits in the game.

On the mound for the Spartans Bailey Huggard was given the loss, going three innings giving up four runs (three earned), walking three and striking out one. Freshman Madisyn Childs went two innings allowing four hits, four runs (all earned) also giving up one home run.

The Spartans now sit at 4-7 in Region 15 play 11-10 overall. They will take to the field today in a non-region road game against Providence Hall.

They return to region play in a home contest against South Sevier (8-14 overall, 3-10 in region) on Wednesday in Castle Dale, game time is set for 3:30
