The Emery Spartan baseball squad was handed it’s fourth loss in a row at the hands of Manti on Friday afternoon on the road. Emery struggled early scoring two runs late against a Templar team that sits 9-3 in region play and solidly in second place headed into the playoffs. The Templars were very methodical offensively and were rewarded with the 5-2 victory.

Emery registered eight hits in the game but had difficulties scoring runs on the day. Seniors Kyson Stilson and Koda Alton had two hits and scored one run each. Seniors Logan Healy and Jesse Barnett as well as junior Brax Jensen and sophomore Riggs Griffin all chipped in with one hit each.

Defensively the Spartans sent two pitchers to the mound, senior Kason Stilson went just over four innings giving up one earned run while walking three and striking out four. Koda Alton was given the loss going just over one inning giving up four earned runs while walking two and striking out one. Emery just could not get on track on either side of the ball and was handed it’s fourth region loss.

Emery now sits in third place in Region 15 and waits to find out who they will play in the first round of the tournament that will begin at different locations around the state on Saturday. The Spartans have lost their last four games in a row and will need the fresh start that the playoffs will bring.
