The Carbon Dinos softball team would end their season by playing four games on Friday at the state softball playoffs in Spanish Fork.

In the first game of the day the Dinos would fall to Manti 12-2. Carbon could only come up with two runs in the fifth inning, senior Dekota Kraushaar had three hits and one RBI. Sophomore Brooke Moosman managed to gather two hits in the game as did Mollie Horsely who also added one run. Grayce Hansen had one hit and one run. Moosman was given the loss on the mound going just over one inning giving up six runs (three earned) on three hits.

In the second game of the day the Dinos would go on to defeat the Richfield Wildcats with a final score of 5-1. The game was very close early with no one scoring runs until the third inning. Carbon would go on to score in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings to put the game out of reach. Kraushaar, Moosman and Horsely would provide two hits each along with a combined four RBI’s and two runs. Kaytlyn Cripps and Amya Prettyman would add one hit each. Cripps would also get the win from the mound going a complete game surrendering two hits and one run while striking out five.

In game number three on Friday, Carbon would come out with a 15-10 win over Juab. The Dinos were a scoring machine as they scored in every inning but the third. Kraushaar led the way with a staggering five RBI’s and two runs on two hits one of which was a home run. Cripps would add three hits and two runs with one RBI. Gianna Bruno would get three RBI’s and two runs on two hits. Horsely would score four runs with one hit, Hansen came up with one hit, one run and one RBI, and Allee Abeyta would add one run and one RBI. Cripps goes five plus innings giving up one hit, one run and striking out one in the win from the mound.

In the final game of the day the Dinos would lose a heart breaker 11-10 as they fell to the Grand Red Devils. Carbon would jump out to an early 4-2 lead after one inning, but a five run fifth inning by Grand would bring the score to 9-8 in favor of the Red Devils, each team would go on to score two runs in the sixth, and that would bring the Dinos season to an end. Kraushaar would be given the loss on the mound for this one.

Carbon ends the season with a 19-12 overall and a 7-3 Region 14 record.
