The 2019 Huntington Heritage Days celebration will start on June 28 and run through till July 4. The annual festivity has six nights full of family-friendly activities and events that is sure to be appealing to everyone of all ages.

“So it actually starts at the end of June – June 28 and 29 with the Heritage Days Rodeo there at the arena on the complex on Canyon Road as you go into town and the rodeo will start at 8:00 pm each night and after the rodeo there will be a dance right there at the pavilion with a band called the Straight Canyon Band so we kick off on June 28 and 29 with Heritage Days Rodeo,” said an Event Organizer, Gary Arrington. The kid’s rodeo and activities start at 6:00 pm.

On June 29, the 6th Annual Fun Shoot will take place at 9:00 am up Huntington Canyon. The competition is open to all ages and anyone under the age of 18 years old must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. For more information on the fun shoot call (435) 749-2642.

Sunday, June 30 will be a Glee Club Patriotic Program entitled Celebrating 100 years. This musical program will be held at the LDS Huntington Stake Center located at 215 North Main Street and everyone is invited to attend.

There will be dinner in the park along with live entertainment on July 2 at 5:30 pm at the Huntington City Park. “We’re putting our main entertainment on Tuesday, July 2, we’ve got a group coming in from upstate this group is called Millennial Beat. They play all around the country, they cover songs from current songs to songs of 20 years ago, of the 90s and they are high energy, do a good job and that’s on Tuesday in conjunction with dinner in the park.” The cost for dinner will be $6.00 per plate or $25.00 for a family of five. There will also be a cornhole tournament held at the rodeo grounds at 6:00 pm, the cost is $20.00 per team and the concession stand will be open during the event.

On Wednesday, July 3 it’s all about having fun at the city park. There will be a Fortnite dance competition starting at 4:30 pm, along with kids games and competitions at 5:00 pm. The annual Ice Cream Social sponsored by BK’s Stop n Shop will take place at 6:00 pm. The entertainment will begin at 6:30 with Stones Throe, followed by the Hypno Hick at 8:00 pm. The kids will then enjoy a Bike Parade of Lights at 9:15 pm, followed by kid’s fireworks at 9:45 pm at the City Park Baseball Field. There will also be a horseshoe competition at 6:30 pm at the rodeo grounds and the cost is $20.00 per team.

It will be an early start for activities on Thursday, July 4 as Arrington explains, “We start with a Fun Run at 6:00 am, Flag Ceremony there in the park at 7:30 am and then Breakfast in The Park at 7:30 am to 9:00 am or until the line goes away. That does cost money $5.00 a plate, $20.00 for a family of five and you never go away hungry.” The menu will feature ham, hash browns, scrambled eggs, pancakes, juice, milk.

The annual parade will follow the breakfast beginning promptly at 10:00 am and making its way down Main Street towards the park. After the parade, guests can gather at the park where there will be free kids’ attractions and live entertainment provided by Stones Throe at 11:30 am, Hypno Hick show at 1:30 pm and Val Jensen Band at 3:00 pm. The annual lawn mower races will be held at the rodeo grounds at 6:00 pm. The celebration will close with a spectacular fireworks display held at the rodeo grounds.
