Food, fun and fireworks are sure to be found at the SEUPA Energy Days celebration taking place on Thursday, July 4 at the Carbon County Fairgrounds Events Center beginning at 5:00 pm.

“This is a great event we have on the fourth of July – this is our ninth-year hosting Energy Days out at the fairgrounds. It really is a kick off to summer so we basically start at 5:00 pm,” said Event Coordinator Kelly Rasmussen. “You can line up, we offer a free hot dog dinner to the first 1,000 people who are in line, as well as, first 1,000 people also get Cold Stone ice cream for free.”

There will be lots activities for all ages to enjoy at the event, especially for the kids. “We have a great kid’s area – with like tons of inflatables, and just games and face painting and just all sorts of different activities for the kids,” said Rasmussen. The kid’s corner is provided by Riley’s Mobile Entertainment which features inflatable bounce houses and slides.

Both adults and kids can enjoy the many eating contests like the annual kid’s cupcake eating contest, plus watermelon and hot dog eating contest. There will be awesome cash prizes awarded for this event.

The annual coal shoveling contest will be back again this year. “GMS is going to run this for us and they are going to do a great job – they’ve kind of changed up the rules so we’ll be able to have two groups 18 to 40 years old and then 41 an up,” said Rasmussen. Participants can register at the event as they will need to sign a waiver and get a copy of the rules.

Price City’s Culture Connection will be held at the pavilion where guests can sit and enjoy the sounds by Route 89. This 7-person band has become a Carbon County favorite and they can play a wide range of songs including music dating back to the 60s all the way up to the newest hits.

The Energy Days Celebration would not be complete without a large and amazing fireworks display taking place at dusk.
