The Grassy Trail Riding Club will present the 69th annual Sunnyside Rodeo July 12 and 13 at the Sunnyside Arena.

Becoming a long standing tradition, the rodeo will once again take place with East Carbon’s Community Daze over a busy weekend. The rodeo is fully equipped with all of the typical events, including bull riding and barrel racing.

“We have a beautiful setting for a rodeo and very cool temperature wise,” said Secretary Treasurer and Rodeo Event Chairman Linda Andrews. “I think the setting, along with the hometown cowboys have helped bring this event back for 68 years.”

Stock for the two day event will be provided by Diamond H Productions.

The rodeo will begin both nights at 6:30 pm with the kids events that include Mutton Bustin, Mini Bulls and the Jackpot Jr. Barrels with three separate age groups. The kids will also have an opportunity to participate in the action at half time with the Chicken Chase (4-7 year-olds) and Dash for Cash (8-14 year-olds).

The rodeo itself will get rolling at 8:00 following the kids events, and will include the Jackpot Hide Race. The rodeo itself is open for cowboys and girls of all skill levels.

“We would love to have everyone come and join us,” Andrews said. “It is a beautiful, nostalgic place to spend the evening. The arena sits up in the canyon and it gives it a real old time feel.”

Admission is $8.00 per person, with kids six and under free.
