The Helper Merchants suffered back-to-back losses at the hands of Lone Peak Saturday afternoon in Helper, ending an unbeaten streak of eight to start league play.

Failing to find the rhythm offensively Helper was held to just three hits in a lopsided 12-2 loss. The second game ended in similar fashion, again favoring Lone Peak in a 10-3 final.

“It was a bad day of baseball for us,” said manager Dakota Cisneros. “There is a lot of things we struggled with. We just didn’t play hard and no energy.

While the Merchants remain in first play in the Central division, the team has now gone winless in it’s last three efforts after winning the first seven of division play. Finishing in a 5-5 tie with Timpanogos earlier in the week, the team is now 7-2-1 overall.

Helper will now take the next week off for the mandated high school moratorium. The next contest will take place on Monday, July 8 at Ernie Gardner Field in Helper against Pleasant Grove.

Manager Dakota Cisneros will join KOAL’s Drive Time Sports Tuesday afternoon to recap the first part of the regular season and talk about the remaining games before the state tournament.
