PRICE – Utah State Eastern Head Volleyball Coach Danielle Jensen announces the hiring of Eagle great Sarah Mafi has an assistant coach.

“I am so excited to bring Sarah on. She is going to bring so much to our program. She knows our program and the way we run things,” said Jensen

“She will bring a lot of knowledge of the sport to our program as well as her ability to work with the athletes to get our program to the next level.”

Mafi was a two-year starter and a team captain for the Eagles from 2017-2018.

Following her sophomore season in 2018, Mafi was named to the Region XVIII first team. As a sophomore she tallied 346 kills, 352 digs, 48 blocks, and 22 service aces.

Mafi says she is ready for the challenge of entering the coaching profession and helping the Eagles continue their upward trajectory as a program.

“I am excited to join the staff as a coach. I think it will be a good learning experience that can help me grow,” said Mafi.

“I wanted to stay in volleyball and I think the right move for me was to focus on school and work alongside Coach Jensen.”

Mafi holds an Associates Degree from Utah State University and is currently pursuing an Associates of Applied Science in Nursing.

Utah State Eastern Volleyball finished the 2018 season with a 17-10 overall record.

The Eagles win begin their 2019 season with a four-game tournament in Richfield starting on August 23. The first home match of the season will be against Eastern Arizona on Monday August 26 inside the BDAC.
