The Carbon Lady Dinos defeated the Union Cougars 2-1 to earn their first victory of the 2019 soccer season Thursday afternoon in Roosevelt.

Senior Grace Broadbear found the back of the net twice, once coming off of an assist from Kayla Barney. Entering the midway point up 2-0, Carbon allowed one goal to eventually record the win.

Broadbear’s two goal output comes just one day after she scored once in the first contest of the season. The team suffered a 6-3 loss to Maeser Prep on Tuesday.

Finishing the opening week 1-1 overall Carbon will take the rest of the weekend off before returning to the field on Tuesday at home against American Leadership Academy. Thursday the Lady Dinos will head to Gunnison Valley for a meeting with the Bulldogs.

Carbon will play four more non-region games before opening league play against South Sevier on Tuesday, Sept. 3.
