Taylorsville, Utah – The USU Eastern volleyball team traveled to Salt Lake Community College this past week to take on Montana Western University, beginning their first of several preseason matchups.  The Lady Eagles came out ready to prove their hard work over the past couple weeks and it showed.  The team went undefeated through 4 sets against MWU and never lost momentum.

“The team wanted the wins and never looked back against an excellent program from Montana.  With it being our first competition of the year you don’t know what to expect and it helped us gauge where we are as we prepare for tournament play.  Our offense came together quickly and our hitters never quit swinging.  Our defense was unstoppable and they had a hand on every ball making it difficult for MWU to settle in on their offense.  I am very happy with the team chemistry and the way they are playing together.  We feel like we are further along than planned and we’re excited to build on the progress,” said Head Coach Danielle Jensen.

The team will travel to Grand Junction, Colorado this Wednesday for another scrimmage against a tough Colorado Mesa University program.   This matchup begins at 5PM and will conclude the Lady Eagles preseason scrimmages.  With only a day in between they will begin their tournament play this weekend in Richfield, Utah for the Snow College Invitational.  There will be 4 games played throughout the weekend meeting up first with Otero Junior College at 3PM this Friday, August 23rd.  These games can be viewed Live on USU Eastern’s Volleyball Facebook page.
