The Carbon Dinos rebounded nicely from a third place finish last week in Emery County with a six-stroke victory Wednesday afternoon at the Cove View Golf Course in Richfield.

Ending with a team score of 324, the Dinos edged out second place Grand’s 330. Richfield finished right behind with a 332, easily topping fourth place South Sevier’s score of 365. Emery and San Juan rounded out the field of six.

Freshman Bode Salas continued to lead the Dinos, this time firing an individual low score of 72. Kaden Slavensky worked as a perfect compliment to Salas with a 77, followed by Nick Olson’s 80. The fourth score went to Jordan Penovich who shot a 90.

The six-stroke victory allows Carbon to increase their overall region lead to 44-strokes with only three meets remaining on the season slate. The Dinos also now carry a 88 shot lead over third place Richfield.

Carbon will look to set the stage for the lone home meet on Sept. 12 when they travel to Hideout, the home course of the San Juan Broncos, on Wednesday, Sept. 4. The region finale is set to take place the last week of September.
