The Emery Lady Spartans ended non-conference play on Thursday with a road loss to the Millard Eagles 2-1. Going 1-5 overall through their first six games, Emery will be looking forward to playing some familiar foes in Region 12.

With losses on their non-region schedule from teams like North Sanpete, Juab, Parowan and 6A Granger, the Spartans seemed to get on track with the 5-0 victory over South Summit. The Eagles scored two goals in the first half and never looked back.

Millard powered their way through last season making it all the way to the 2A semi-finals losing to the eventual state champion, Waterford. This season they are sitting at 6-2.

Next up for Emery is Grand. Last season the Red Devils went 4-6-1 overall and 2-5-1 in region, Emery dropped the first match 5-1 and then both teams played to a 2-2 tie in the second game.

With region play starting the Lady Spartans look to get on track they will play Grand in Moab on Tuesday September 3, they will follow that up with another road match vs. South Sevier on Thursday Sept. 5.

They will play their Region 12 home opener on Tuesday Sept. 10. Game time is set for 4 p.m. in Castle Dale.
