The United Way of Eastern Utah will host their annual Day of Caring on Saturday, September 14 beginning at 7:30 am. This is a brilliant way for individuals, families, companies or civic groups to make a difference within the community by volunteering to complete various projects.

“Really this is an opportunity for everybody in the community to give our city a great big hug and help out our neighbors with some projects that need to be done,” said Director Cheryl Thayn. “Everybody meets at Lin’s parking lot at 7:30 in the morning and they provide us with an awesome continental breakfast – drinks, donuts, bagels, and all kinds of wonderful stuff and while you’re there you can sign up for a project to do.” Volunteers are asked to please wear appropriate clothing and shoes, bring work gloves and tools to assist with some of the scheduled projects.

Volunteers can expect some big projects scheduled this year as Thayn explains, “So we’re going to be working up at the Castle Heights area behind the school and the cemetery there. In the Helper area, we’re going to do the Spring Canyon area where they are trying to set up like hiking, mountain climbing kind of an area there but it needs a little bit of clean up so we’re going to be working on that. The Dino Mine Park needs a touch-up. We’re also going to be working at the Community Garden down by the food bank.” Other projects will include some canal clearing and cleanup work along 300 East in Price.

Once the projects are completed volunteers will be meet at Washington Park for a free barbeque provided again by Lin’s Fresh Market and served by the Helper LDS Stake Center.

Day of Caring offers amazing “feel good” benefits for volunteers and is a countless opportunity to change the community. To learn more about the event visit their website at https://www.uweu.org/ or their Facebook page.
