The Pinnacle Panthers split a set of weekend games to raise their record to 4-12 overall and 0-9 in region play. The Panthers have had problems finding victories lately, but were able to find one on Saturday against Tabiona.

Headed into the final five games of the season, Pinnacle looks to finish strong in the last few contests ahead.

September 13 at Green River: Loss 13-3

On Friday the Panthers headed to Green River to face the Pirates. While the hits were there, the runs were hard to come by as Pinnacle only crossed home plate three times.

Junior Mikey Vigil led a foursome of players that went 3-of-3. Vigil had two hits and an RBI. Seniors Logan Kepl added two hits and Benjamin Scott had one hit, one run and one RBI. Sophomore Michael Schmitz went for two hits and two runs while senior Shayden Christensen added one hit and one run as well.

Christensen also pitched four innings giving up 11 hits, 12 runs, three earned, one walk and struck out four. Junior Stetson Motte went one inning giving up three hits one earned run and struck out two.

September 14 vs. Tabiona: Win 8-5

On Saturday the Panthers took on Tabiona in a non-region affair. Tabiona jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first inning and that was all it took to light a fire under Pinnacle, as they scored in all but one inning the rest of the game.

Vigil and Scott led the way at the plate both going 4-of-4. Vigil had three hits and two runs while Scott had two hits, one RBI and two runs. Kepl and Schmitz went 3-of-3. Logan had two hits and one RBI and Schmitz had one hit, two RBI and one run. Motte added two runs and senior Christian McLean added the final run in a well balanced offensive attack.

On the mound McLean went six innings giving up 10 hits, five runs (three earned), walked four and stuck out three. Vigil came in and went one inning walking one and striking out two.

Up next for the Panthers is a match-up with the Wayne Badgers (15-0 overall, 9-0 in region). These two teams met back on August 23 with Pinnacle getting the loss 17-4.

Their next home game is set for September 20 against Diamond Ranch Academy. First pitch is set for 3 p.m..
