Price, UTAH – USU Eastern Rodeo will be hosting their 4th annual intercollegiate rodeo this weekend. Friday’s events will begin at 7:00 PM.  Saturday will be the top ten championship that will begin at 6:00 PM. The top two teams and the top three individuals in each event will qualify for the College National finals in Casper, Wyoming in June.

The girls’ team is currently ranked 3rd in the region and our men’s team is ranked 7th in the region. The girls team consists of Morgan Jensen, who is a Price local and who is currently ranked 2nd in the region for barrel racing.  She qualified for the nationals last year.  Afton McCourt is another Price local and she is a multi-event cowgirl who is competing in the breakaway, barrel racing, and goat tying.  She is currently ranked 4th in breakaway roping, and Sierra Edwards, another Price local finishes up the girls team as a breakaway roper.

The men’s rodeo team consists of Austin Allred of Cleveland, Utah.  He is a bull rider and team roper.  He is currently ranked 4th in bull riding for the region and has qualified for nationals in the past. Will and Wyatt Magnuson from Castle Dale, Utah are multi-event cowboys competing in team roping and tie down roping. Will is currently ranked 3rd in tie down and Wyatt is ranked 8th. Leegene Barlow is the last of the men’s team and he comes to us from Arizona.

The Rocky Mountain Region consists of twelve schools from Utah, Idaho, and western Colorado. “We are so excited about the teams this year and want to wish the best of luck this season” said head coach Monte Jensen.
