The Carbon Dinos are now one step closer to a fifth consecutive region championship after finishing first place at the Roosevelt Golf Course Thursday afternoon.

Entering the second to last meet of the season with a 76-stroke lead over the Grand Red Devils, the Dinos continued to take care of business and add to their advantage. Entering next week’s finale the team will enter with a 78 shot lead.

Freshman Bode Salas shot a 72, continuing his individual dominance, as the Dinos finished with a team score of 329. Grand ended just two strokes behind with a score of 331, followed by Richfield’s 333. South Sevier edged out the Emery Spartans for fourth place by just six strokes with a 389. San Juan closed out the field of six in last.

Senior Kaden Slavensky was second on the team with an 81. Fellow senior Nick Olson delivered the third score with an 85. Freshman Daron Garner again scored inside the top four for Carbon, finishing the afternoon with a 91.

The first place finish for Carbon continues what has been an outstanding season. With only one meet remaining on the regular season schedule, Carbon will travel to Sterling to compete at the Palisades Golf Course Monday morning. Barring disaster, the Dinos will clinch their fifth consecutive region title.
