The Pirate baseball squad headed to Junction on Wednesday to take on the Piute Thunderbirds, losing the region game 9-1.

Pinnacle has dropped four of their last five games with their last win coming on September 14 against Tabiona. Two games remain on their schedule with the season set to wrap up next Wednesday , October 2.

Junior Mikey Vigil racked up two hits with one RBI, while junior Stetson Motte had two hits and scored the only run of the contest. Sophomore Gabriel Bloomer and Senior Logen Kepl had one hit a piece. Piute held the Pirates to just six hits on a day when offense would be at a premium for Pinnacle.

On the mound Motte went three innings giving up six hits and seven earned runs while walking five and striking out one. Vigil came in and gave them two innings with one run two walks and two strike outs and senior Christian McLean went one with one hit and one run.

Pinnacle (4-15 overall and 0-12 in region) continue to struggle finding wins this season. Up next is Bryce Valley (3-15 and 1-11) in what will be the final home game of the season. First pitch is set for 3 p.m. at Colosimo-Carlson Field.

They will then closeout the season on the road at Valley (15-4 and 9-3).
