The Carbon Lady Dinos earned their 13th consecutive win and the Region 12 championship with a dominating 8-0 victory over the Grand Red Devils Tuesday afternoon in Price.

Opening a dominate 5-0 lead by the end of the first half, the Lady Dinos easily moved to 9-0 in league play and 13-1 overall on the season. The region championship became official as Emery suffered a loss to Richfield.

Senior Grace Broadbear scored three goals, running her impressive season total to 28. The offense fired on all cylinders as Kayla Barney and Ryan Brady scored two goals each. Kinley Cowdell also found the back of the net to round out the team’s scoring.

Defensively Carbon remained on point as Emma Flemett recorded her sixth shutout of the season at goalkeeper. As a team the Lady Dinos have allowed no more than one goal in division play, while recording five shutouts in the last six games.

The Lady Dinos have thoroughly dominated the competition throughout the region portion of the schedule. In nine games Carbon has scored 55 goals, while only allowing three. The plus-52 margin ranks second to only Manti, who has outscored their region 60-0.

As the wins continue to pile up, the Lady Dinos continue to climb up the UHSAA RPI rankings. The final rankings will be available following the divisional finale Thursday afternoon.

With only one game remaining on the region slate, only the Emery Lady Spartans stand in the way of a perfect league record. The two teams will meet in Castle Dale Thursday afternoon at 4:00 p.m.. The Lady Dinos won the first meeting in Price by a final score of 2-1 on Sept. 17.
