A presentation by Intermountain Electronics founder John Houston will be on tap for the next Castle Country Business Expansion and Retention meeting to be held on October 10. The subject will be the future plans concerning the companies expansion in the area.

John is the owner of Intermountain Electronics (“IE”).  John grew up in Price, getting an informal education working in his family’s retail business on Main Street.  After graduating from Carbon High, John attended Provo Technical College (later UVU) where he received an electrical degree.  He returned to Price and worked in the electrical business before starting a 12 year career in coal mining, where he worked in electrical and maintenance leadership roles with Arco Coal and Emery Mining (present day Pacificorp).

John launched IE in 1985, focusing on repairing electronic components for the local mining industry. With the help of his wife Jeri, his son Bobby (an electrical engineer), and a strong management team, the business grew rapidly. IE is now a leading designer and manufacturer of power distribution equipment for the mining, oil and gas, utility and renewables, and data center industries across North America.  IE has added three additional manufacturing facilities in Denver Colorado, South Point Ohio, and Centralia Illinois to support its customers nationwide.  IE recently announced its decision to expand its largest facility and headquarters in Price Utah, with plans to add over 200 new jobs by 2030 as part of this expansion.

The meeting will start at 8 a.m. and light refreshments will be served. Each general meeting never lasts more than one hour.
