Price, UT – Castleview Hospital Soccer Field was filled with the families and friends of the 2019-2020 Utah State University Eastern women’s soccer team sophomores.  October 12, 2019 marked the final home contest for the team as they matched up against the Colorado Northwestern Community College Spartans.  Fitting for “Sophomore day”, the second-year players showed their experience and talent in a 9-0 route of CNCC.

The first four goals of the match were scored and assisted by sophomores.  Morgan Cragun and Claire Boman teamed up for 2 of them.  Cragun got the scoring going, receiving an assist from Logan Duran.  Then Boman scored back to back goals, both assisted by Cragun.  Tasha Kamachi and Brooke Stoker finished the first half of sophomore scoring when Kamachi found the back of the net off of an assist by Stoker.

Ashley Brindley brought the team goal tally to six before the half with two of her own goals.  They were assisted by Shealee Heywood and Rachel Flemming respectively.  Taking a 6-0 lead into half, Brindley achieved the hat trick, scoring her third goal shortly after the start of the second half.  Brindley was assisted by MacKenzee Brough.

Leading 7-0, the final two goals again were scored and assisted by sophomores.  Duran and Kamachi teamed up to make it 8-0.  To put the finishing touch on the day, Boman completed her hat trick and scored her third goal, assisted by Duran.

The Eagles (4-2-2), coached by Ammon Bennett, face a pivotal upcoming week as they finish Scenic West Athletic Conference play on the road.  First facing #9 the Snow College Badgers (4-2-2) in Ephraim, UT on October 17th, 2019.  The Eagles then travel to Henderson, NV for their final SWAC game against the College of Southern Nevada Coyotes (4-3-1) on October 19th. Game times will be 3 p.m. and 1p.m. (Pacific time) respectively
