Nine Emery High School senior student-athletes have been recognized for their excellence in the classroom during the 2019 fall season with a selection to the Academic All-State team in their respective sport by the Utah High School Activities Association and the Deseret News.

With five selections the girls Soccer squad had the most representatives. Ashley Morgan, Katie Nelson, Kiri Cook, Sophia Huntington and Teryn Allred were part of the 14 member 3A All-State list. The Spartans season came to an end at the hands of Judge Memorial last Saturday in the Quarterfinals of the State Championship Tournament.

Brynne Urie was the only member of the Emery girls Tennis team named to the list. Emery Tennis had a successful season as well, with both of their doubles teams making it to the Quarterfinals of the State Tournament.

For Golf, Bron Gordon was the only Emery representative in a field of 10 golfers from the 3A ranks.

Jennifer Funk from the Emery Girls Cross Country team was the only selection in the sport as was Autumn Stilson for volleyball. The Cross Country team wrapped up their season today and Volleyball will begin the 3A State Championship Tournament this weekend.

For over 25 years the UHSAA has presented the Academic All-State Award to recognize those students who have excelled in the classroom as well as in athletic competition. Individuals are selected for this award on the basis of their athletic ability and academic proficiency.
