The Carbon Dino Volleyball squad took part in the 3A State Championship Tournament at Utah Valley University on Tuesday. Finishing the day with a 1-1 record the Dinos survive to play on day two.

The Dinos entered the tournament 17-10 overall and 4-6 in Region 12 play which was enough to give them the #7 seed in the 3A classification.

In their first match of the day they would face Grantsville (12-17 and 5-5) the #10 seed from Region 13. They would go to five sets in a nail biter that would go back and forth but in the end the Dinos would win 25-21, 24-26, 25-19, 18-25 and 15-8 finishing off Grantsville 3-2.

In the next contest they would face Morgan (24-5 and 10-0) the #2 seed. Carbon was beaten in straight sets 25-13, 25-19 and 25-21. This loss dropped Carbon into the single loss bracket and now the best that they can finish is fifth place.

The Dinos will now move on to play South Summit (19-12 and 8-2) the #6 seed form Region 13. South Summit’s path was similar to Carbon’s. They started out the day with a straight set victory over Judge Memorial and then lost in the next round to Richfield.
