The Carbon Dinos returned to the swimming pool for the second meet of the season as they competed against the Emery Spartans and South Sevier Rams Tuesday afternoon in Castle Dale.

Gathering 290 points the Lady Dinos finished second to the host school Emery, who finished with 289 points. South Sevier finished third with 20.

The boy’s side of the pool produced a similar result as the Dinos again finished second with 172 points, compared to Emery’s 342. South Sevier was third with 125.

Gabe Ibanez scored individual wins for the Dinos in two events. Ending with a time of 2:13.84, Ibanez topped Emery’s Alex Frederick for first place. Ibanez later topped South Sevier’s Daniel Northrup in the 100 yard fly with a time of 1:08.57.

Sophomore Camden Chamberlain secured first place in the 100 yard backstroke with a time of 1:09.15. Later in the meet Chamberlain anchored the 200 free relay team with Ibanez, Zac Mortensen and Matt Torres to a first place win.

Sofia Crompton continued her early season success with a first place finish in the 50 yard free after finishing in 28.04 seconds. Crompton later joined Emily Jespersen, Thalyn Lyman and Kacee Barrett in the 200 yard free relay where to group scored a first place nod.

With two meets now complete, the Dinos will shift their focus to the Cedar Invitational, which will take place this Friday and Saturday. The team will then return to the pool on Thursday, Nov. 14 with a road trip to Union.
