The swim season continued for the Carbon Dinos as they traveled to Mount Pleasant to compete against four other teams throughout the state Tuesday afternoon.

Seven first place finishes was enough to lift the defending 3A state champion Lady Dinos past the rest of the field as they accumulated 110 points. North Sanpete finished second with 67, followed by Gunnison in third. Wasatch Academy rounded out the field of four on the girl’s side of the pool.

North Sanpete manged to take home the top team spot on the boy’s side with 73 points. Gunnison ended right behind with 71, while the Dinos finished third with 50. Wasatch Academy and North Sevier completed the top five.

Tyrca Jaramillo delivered an outstanding performance throughout the afternoon, clinching three first place spots, including two in individual events. Jaramillo topped teammate Ashlin Baker in the 200 yard IM with a final time of 2:51.30. She later added a top finish in the 100 yard breaststroke with a time of 1:20.82.

Baker managed to top the field in the 500 yard freestyle with a time of 6:55.95. Earlier in the day she joined forces with Jaramillo, Kacee Barrett and Sofia Crompton for a first place nod in the 200 yard medley relay.

Barrett also enjoyed individual success with a top finish in the 100 yard freestyle, topping teammate Jacee Richards. Crompton also logged a first place performance in the 100 yard butterfly, ending with a time of 1:18.14.

The girl’s 200 yard freestyle relay team consisting of Anna Tabone, Kayla Manzanares, Alyssa Ellis and Emma Allred marked the second relay team to claim first. The girl’s finished with the top time after cruising to the finish line at 2:00.92.

Gabe Ibanez led the Carbon boy’s team in throughout the afternoon as he finished with two individual first place finishes. Topping teammate Mathew Torres, Ibanez ended the 500 yard freestyle with a time of 6:03.94. He was also top in the 200 yard freestyle at 2:14.14.

Ibanez and Torres joined Zac Mortensen and Boyd Bradford in the 200 yard medley, taking the event as they finished in 2:08.30. The boys added several depth finishes to accumulate the 50 point total throughout the meet.

Carbon will now take the remainder of the week off from competition before returning to the pool on Tuesday, Nov. 26 at home. The Dinos will welcome in Emery, Grand, Gunnison and South Sevier for the first home meet of the season.
