Normond Marion Potter, our amazing husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend passed away December 6, 2019.  He had just celebrated his 78th birthday.

Dad was born December 5, 1941 in Price, Utah.  He was born to loving parents, Noah Potter, Jr. and Mary Roper Potter. He was proud of his heritage, with his Grandpa Potter and family immigrating from Lancashire, England to the United States at age 8 and settling in Winter Quarters, Utah.  He enjoyed an adventurous childhood with 4 siblings: Laurene, Randol (Diane), Linnore (David), and Brennon (Mary).  He spent his childhood in Price and Huntington with a loving family, riding horses, farming, keeping bees, growing gardens, and misbehaving.  When he was 16, he first saw the love of his life, Leona Rae Hadden. They were married August 25, 1962. They have enjoyed 57 years of marriage. They were married at her parent’s home, Alfred E. and Ruby Vera Verde Hadden. Marriage later solemnized in the Manti, Utah LDS Temple.   Dad’s early years were a crazy, fun life of adventure.  He had stories of mountain lion hunting with dogs, and bringing the lions home alive; riding horses all night through the snow, fishing stories, and staying one step ahead of the law with life-long friends including Byron, Freddie, Martin, Willie, Old Tom, Jack, and many others. Trading horses was his passion.

Norm and Leona have four children, Lane, Lorri (Kirk Nacey), Kristi (Ronnie Lindsey), and Brandi (Jimmy Ruden).  Honorary daughter: Lynda Caughman (Phil) Divelbess. He was a protector, provider and shining example of goodness to his family. He was a man of faith.  As a family, we enjoyed the simple things in life: fishing, going for rides, hunting, doing chores, riding horses, gardening, shooting guns, and spending time together.  He was a master storyteller. Lane was his number one hunting buddy. He adored his grandchildren and their families: Ashlie (Joseph Park), Morgan (Taft Hansen), Colton Ruden (Samantha), McKenna (Hyram Fuller), Brycen Nacey, Madison Nacey, and J.J. Ruden. Great-grandchildren: Caisen, and Baby Ruden expected May 2020.

He is preceded in death by his parents, in-laws, brother Brennon, and many friends.

A celebration of life will be held Saturday, December 14, 2019 at Mitchell Funeral Home in Price.  Viewing 9:00-10:00 a.m., with a Funeral service beginning at 10:00. Interment, Price City Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Mitchell Funeral Home of Price where friends are always welcome daily and may share memories online at www.mitchellfuneralhome.net.

The family would like to thank Dr. Gagon, Dr. Bishop, Dr. Cragun, Hailey & Greg, and the many caregivers at Castleview Hospital, Parkdale Care Center, and home health providers.  Special thanks to Dave Waltz for being his right-hand man and friend.

“Nothing can ever take away the love a heart holds dear.  Fond memories linger every day, remembrance keeps you near.”   You’ve Graduated!  We love you Dad!
