The Pinnacle Panthers basketball teams hosted the Pinnacle Winter Classic tournament over the weekend. Five schools participated with 17 teams and 26 games played across three gyms in two days. After the dust settled the Panther boys team would walk away with a 3-1 record.

The tournament had teams from Dugway, Tabiona, Merit College Preparatory Academy and Freedom Preparatory. Pinnacle is sitting at 5-5 overall with the first RPI rankings of the season coming out on Thursday.

Friday December 13

Dugway- 48

Pinnacle- 69

In the first game of the tournament the Panthers would jump out to a five point lead at the end of the first quarter,but they would use a 21-9 second to out the game out of reach of the Dugway Mustangs. Benjamin Scott would lead all scorers in this game with 22 points, he would also add six rebounds and two steals. Landen Hardy would score 16 points and gather six steals and Jordan Thomas went for 14 points and four rebounds.

Pinnacle- 61

Freedom Prep- 52

In the second game on Friday the Panthers took on Freedom Preparatory Academy. This game was tight throughout, with Pinnacle taking a five point lead into the locker room at halftime.

Scott would once again lead the way in this one scoring 18 points to go with 13 rebounds and four steals. Thomas would drop 17 and four rebounds. And Landen Hardy had nine points, six rebounds,two assists and two steals.

Saturday December 14

Merit College Preparatory- 43

Pinnacle- 36

The first game of Saturday would bring the first loss for the Panthers. Pinnacle could only manage 13 points in the first half, and Merit would take advantage.

Benjamin Scott scored 11 points, five rebounds and three steals in the loss. Jordan Thomas has eight points to go with four rebounds and two steals and Logan Kerr had six.

Later on during the day the Panthers would play the Merit team one last time, with a different result. Jordan Thomas would score 20 with eight rebounds, Benjamin Scott had eight with eight rebounds, three assists and five steals and Landen Hardy chipped in seven, with four rebounds and one steal.

Next up for the Panthers is a trip to Vivint Smart Home Arena where they will take on American Preparatory Academy out of West Valley.
