There is sure to be lots of fun activities to enjoy at the Beat the Winter Blues Festival taking place on February 21 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm and February 22 from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm. This event will be held inside the Emery County Recreation Building located at 75 South 400 East in Castle Dale. The first 100 people to attend on each day will receive a swag bag.

“The event is sponsored by Emery County Business Chamber along with Castleview Hospital, and Castleview Hospital is going to bring a Wellness Tent there will be a number of services there,” said Festival Coordinator, Patsy Stoddard. Individuals will be given the opportunity to obtain free screenings plus receive important information on women’s health issues.

“Friday night we’re also having a free skate night. You’ll pick up your skates there at the rec center and then the Castle Dale City has a giant skating pond there and you’ll be able to skate for free that night,” said Stoddard. The free skating activity will start at 4:00 pm and its open to all ages plus there will be free hot dogs till 8:00 pm.

Saturday will feature free hot dogs, golf putting contest, cornhole tournament and barbeque contest. “That’s between the Emery County Sheriff’s Office and the Carbon County Sheriff’s Office and also anyone can enter that. You know if you think your barbeque is better than the Sheriff’s Office guys then go ahead and bring your barbeque and that will be judged on Saturday at noon,” stated Stoddard. There will be a tasters table set up for individuals to purchase a sample of the food items.

During the event, there will be a Silent Auction that will feature unique and beautiful items to bid on. All of the proceeds from the auction will benefit the Reach Up Suicide Prevention Group.

Organizers are currently looking for vendors to participate in the festival. “If you want to become a vendor it’s $25.00 and then our junior vendors are $20.00,” explained Stoddard.
