The Boys and Girls Club of Carbon County has been selected by Castle Country Radio as February’s Charity of the Month. For the duration of the month, the radio station showcases a local non-profit organization to bring awareness to listeners of the wonderful services that agency offers.

The purpose behind the Boys and Girls Club is to not only provide a safe environment after school, but to prepare the young members to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible, successful citizens. Kids and teens who regularly attend the club do better than their peers socially and academically.

The local club offers a summer program, as well as an after-school program. There is absolutely no income requirement for students to participate in either program. The annual membership fee is very affordable for families at $20.00 per child, per school year, this includes a healthy after-school snack.

Services offered in the after-school program are tutoring, visual and performing arts, sports and fitness activities. In addition to these, for teens, they get an opportunity to participate in life skills workshops like financial management, conflict resolution, cooking skills, alcohol/drug prevention, college preparation, and employment needs.

The Boys and Girls Club is always looking for volunteers and donations such as food items for snacks, art, and school supplies or monetary donations. If you would like to know more about the Boys and Girls Club of Carbon County call 637-6066 or visit their Facebook page.
