Faced with a slow start the Carbon Lady Dinos were unable to overcome a double-digit deficit in a 46-38 loss to the Richfield Wildcats Tuesday night at home.

Trailing 18-8 at the end of the opening quarter, Carbon began to slowly cut into the Richfield advantage. Trailing by five entering the fourth quarter, the Lady Dinos were outscored 13-10 to close out the game.

Senior Jordan Bianco scored a game-high 15 points to go along with two rebounds and two assists in her final home contest. Abbie Saccomanno poured in 10 points, while Cora Lamborn contributed six points and six boards.

Richfield standout Passion Reitz led the Wildcats with 14 points. Jerica Steck chipped in with 12 points, while Jacee Albrecht scored six.

Tuesday’s loss ends all hope of Carbon gaining a share of the Region 12 title. Even though those hopes have vanished, the Lady Dinos are expected to remain one of the top five teams in the final RPI rankings.

With the home portion of the regular season now complete, Carbon will travel on the road to Blanding to meet the San Juan Broncos Thursday night.

The regular season finale will be the second meeting of the season between the two teams. Carbon won the first back on Jan. 14 by a final score of 53-50.

The Lady Dinos will enter the contest with a region record of 6-3 and 15-7 overall. San Juan is 2-7 in division play and 10-9 overall.
